Birger Steen

CEO of Parallels

Birger Steen is chief executive officer of Parallels. He joined Parallels in 2010 and oversees the strategic and operational direction of the company, which has offices in 15-countries. Birger is furthering Parallels tradition of innovation with a strong focus on collaboration, new products and customer needs.

Birger started his professional career in 1992 as an oil trader at Norwegian Oil Trading, where he opened the company’s first office in the former Soviet Union. He joined McKinsey & Company in Norway in 1993. In 1996, he left McKinsey to join his favorite client Schibsted ASA, a European media group, as Vice President of Business Development. In March 2000 he was named CEO of Scandinavia Online AB, the leading Nordic Internet portal, which was listed on the Stockholm and Oslo stock exchanges later that year. After selling the company in 2002, Birger briefly worked for the acquirer, Eniro AB, as Executive Vice President, Online and responsible for integrating the two companies. Birger holds a Master of Science degree in Computer Science and Industrial Engineering from the Norwegian Institute of Technology in Trondheim. He also holds a degree in Russian Language and received his MBA from INSEAD in France.

Blake Irving

CEO and Board Director of GoDaddy

Blake Irving is the CEO and Board Director of GoDaddy, the world's largest domain name provider and web host. Under Mr. Irving’s direction, the company has sharpened its focus on helping small businesses to grow and thrive online—from digital presence and marketing to commerce, back-office administration and peer/community support.

Prior to GoDaddy, Mr. Irving was EVP and Chief Product Officer at Yahoo!, a role in which he grew active users from 550 million to nearly one billion users—positioning them to surpass Google and Facebook as the world’s most popular online destination.

Before Yahoo!, Mr. Irving spent 15 years at Microsoft in various senior roles, most recently as Corporate Vice President of the Windows Live Platform where he was responsible for research, development and operations of Microsoft’s global online services. While at Microsoft, Mr. Irving developed and grew MSN Messenger into the world’s most successful instant messaging platform with more than 70% global share, re-architected and grew Hotmail to 270 million users worldwide, and deployed their first billion dollar advertising system, adExpert.

Serguei Beloussov

Executive Chairman of the Board and Chief Architect, Parallels; Founder and CEO, Acronis

Mr. Beloussov is a founder and former CEO of Parallels, and he currently serves as CEO of Acronis. Acronis is a global provider of leading backup, disaster recovery, and secure file sharing and file access solutions. Serguei is a successful self-made serial entrepreneur and business executive with an outstanding 20+ year track record in building, growing, and leading high-performing, multi-national, high-tech companies in North America, Europe, and Asia. Under Mr. Beloussov's leadership, Parallels quickly grew to profitability and top market positions in its desktop virtualization, OS containers, and control panel offerings. Mr. Beloussov holds a B.S. in Physics, an M.S. in Physics and Electrical Engineering with High Honors, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.

Nicholas Carr

Nicholas Carr writes about technology, culture, and economics. His most recent book, The Shallows: What the Internet Is Doing to Our Brains, is a 2011 Pulitzer Prize nominee and a New York Times bestseller. Nick is also the author of two other influential books, The Big Switch: Rewiring the World, from Edison to Google (2008) and Does IT Matter? (2004). His books have been translated into more than 20 languages.

Nick has been a columnist for The Guardian in London and has written for The Atlantic, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Wired, The New Republic, The Financial Times, Technology Review, and many other publications. His essay “Is Google Making Us Stupid?” has been collected in several anthologies, including The Best American Science and Nature Writing 2009, The Best Spiritual Writing 2010, and The Best Technology Writing 2009.

Abhijit Dubey

Partner at McKinsey & Company

Abhijit Dubey is a partner with McKinsey and Company, a global management consulting firm. He is one of the core leaders of McKinsey’s North American Tech, Media and Telecom practices and advises leading technology companies (enterprise software, data center providers, hardware OEMs and IT services companies) on a range of strategic and go-to-market issues. Abhijit also leads McKinsey’s global cloud computing service line.

Abhijit has a Masters degree in Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management from Stanford University and a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.
